Lexington, Ky. – July 15, 2022 – After careful consideration, the National Horse Show has decided to adjust the point requirements required to qualify for the Maclay Regionals and Hamel Finals. This adjustment is being made to compensate for the loss of competitive opportunities for our members as a result of the EHV-1 outbreak earlier this year.
The point adjustments will be for California, all contiguous states to California, and the state of Washington. The formula used to establish these totals is the same that was implemented for the adjustments due to COVID-19 pandemic.
The point values needed to qualify would change to:
Maclay Points:
• California-29
• Washington-15
• Oregon-15
• Arizona-15
• Nevada-9
Hamel Points:
• California-27
• Washington-13
• Oregon-1
• Arizona-13
• Nevada-8
If members from other areas of the country feel they have suffered hardship in qualifying due to EHV-1 they can contact us directly and requests will be considered on a case by case basis.
For questions regarding points and qualification please contact cindy@nhs.org or visit our website for more information.
