Attention National Horse Show Competitors,
The end of the Maclay competition year is August 31, 2019. If you wish to remain a member, you will need to renew your membership no later than September 1, 2019.
Every year, hundreds of junior riders seek to qualify for the ASPCA Maclay Finals held at the National Horse Show. To reach the Finals, riders must first begin by becoming members of the NHSAA (National Horse Show Association of America.) Juniors all over the country enter the ASPCA Horsemanship Class, which is held at hundreds of USEF sanctioned horse shows, in order to qualify for the ASPCA Maclay Regional Finals. The Maclay class is unique in its format of qualifying for the Championship through eight regional competitions in September.
If you have any issue renewing your membership or if you have any further questions, please email the National Horse Show offices here.
Membership in the National Horse Show Association of America is required for all participants in the ASPCA Maclay, Hamel 3’3” Medal or the THIS Adult Medal classes, as well as for trainers with students in these same classes. Unlike the rules of other organizations, nonmembers may not compete in any of the NHS classes, however points for nonmember trainers or athletes will not be retroactively rewarded upon membership after the event. Competitors should complete their membership application prior to competing in any of the above mentioned classes. The membership application can be found at the National Horse Show website and is to be completed online.
For the next competition year, beginning on September 1, 2019, points for the NHSA ASPCA Maclay, Hamel Foundation 3’3” Medal or THIS Adult Medal will not be awarded retroactively to riders that competed but were not yet members of the NHSA. However, if you compete in a NHSA ASPCA Maclay class as a non-member it will count as one of your fourteen (14) shows, regardless of whether or not you receive any points. Membership applications can be completed at www.nhs.org.
