National Horse Show Membership Reminder

Lexington, KY. — May 6, 2019 — The National Horse Show is overwhelmed with the support from show organizers for not only the ASPCA Maclay classes, but also for the Hamel Foundation 3’3” Medal and the new THIS Adult Medal classes. We are sincerely appreciative for your efforts, and excited that these classes are clearly meeting a need for our riders that has not been available to them before. We would also like to thank all the horse show management teams that have chosen to support these riders by making these new classes available at their shows.

It is important for all concerned to remember that membership in the National Horse Show Association of America is required for all competitors in the ASPCA Maclay, Hamel 3’3” Medal or the THIS Adult Medal classes, as well as for trainers with students in these same classes. Unlike the rules of other organizations, nonmembers may not compete in any of the NHS classes. Competitors should complete their membership application prior to competing in any of the above mentioned classes. The membership application can be found at the National Horse Show website and is to be completed online.

For the next competition year, beginning on September 1, 2019, points for the NHSA ASPCA Maclay, Hamel Foundation 3’3” Medal or THIS Adult Medal will not be awarded retroactively to riders that competed but were not yet members of the NHSA. However, if you compete in a NHSA ASPCA Maclay class as a non-member it will count as one of your fourteen (14) shows, regardless of whether or not you receive any points. Membership applications can be completed at www.nhs.org.

Again, we would like to thank all competitors and managers for their support this competition year and look forward to the continued growth of these classes.
