Membership Reminder for the 2023 National Horse Show

Lexington, Ky – August 4, 2023 – With the qualifying and membership year drawing to a close on August 31, 2023, the National Horse Show (NHS) would like to remind riders and trainers of the membership requirements to participate in ANY National Horse Show class.

It is imperative for all participants to remember that membership in the National Horse Show Association of America (NHSA) is required for all competitors in the ASPCA MaclayHamel 3’3” Medal, and the THIS Adult Medal classes, as well as for trainers with students in these same classes. Unlike the rules of other organizations, non-members may not compete in any of the NHS classes.

Competitors must complete their membership application prior to competing in any of the above-mentioned classes. The membership application can be found through the National Horse Show website here and is to be completed online.

Points for the NHSA ASPCA Maclay, Hamel Foundation 3’3” Medal, or THIS Adult Medal will not be awarded retroactively to riders that competed but were not yet members of the NHSA. However, if you compete in a NHSA ASPCA Maclay class as a non-member it will count as one of your fourteen (14) shows, regardless of whether or not you receive any points. Membership applications can be completed at www.nhs.org.

We would like to thank all competitors, trainers and managers for their support and we look forward to the continued growth of these classes.
