Important Equitation Entry Information for 2020 National Horse Show

Lexington, KY – Aug. 26, 2020 – Following the opening of online entries for the 2020 National Horse Show (NHS), the NHS releases the following information regarding entries for the ASPCA Maclay, Hamel Foundation NHS 3’3” Eq Championship and Taylor Harris Insurance Services NHS Adult Equitation Championship. The 2020 National Horse Show is set to take place October 23 to November 1 at the Kentucky Horse Park’s Alltech Arena. All entries must be completed electronically and will close on Friday, September 11, 2020.

ASPCA Maclay

  •  Riders reaching the required number of points for their USEF registered state of residence are qualified for the Maclay Finals. Participation in, or “getting through” the Regional Championships is not required to participate in the Maclay Finals this year for those qualified riders.
  • Riders wishing to enter the Macaly Finals will follow the normal entry process for the horse show once they are qualified.Invitations will not be sent this year. Entries close for the Maclay Finals on September 11, 2020.
  • Riders reaching 1/2 the required number of points for their USEF registered state of residence are qualified to participate in any Maclay Regionals Championship of their choice. In the event that the number of qualified riders entered in the Maclay Finals is less than 175 riders, the NHS reserves the right to invite enough additional riders to fill the vacant slots. These riders will be invited based upon Regional Championship class results.
  • *NEW* – The top placing non-qualified rider in each of the Regional competitions will qualify to compete in the ASPCA Maclay Finals.
  • We would like to encourage as many members as possible to participate in the Regional Championships of their choice to support the Horse Shows that host these events for us. Riders that are qualified for the Maclay Finals and choose to compete in a Regional Championship will remain qualified and eligible to compete in the Maclay Finals regardless of their performance in the Regional Championship.
  • There will be a final adjustment made to the number of points required for riders to qualify for the ASPCA Maclay Finals and Hamel Finals based on state closures due to COVID. This adjustment will be made and announced on September 1, 2020.

 

Hamel Foundation NHS 3’3” Eq Championship

  • Riders reaching the required number of points for their USEF registered state of residence are qualified for the Hamel Foundation NHS 3’3” Eq Championship.
  • Riders wishing to enter the Hamel Foundation NHS 3’3” Eq Championship and the NHS Equitation Weekend will follow the normal entry process for the horse show once they are qualified. There is no invitation process. Entries for the Hamel Foundation NHS 3’3” Eq Championship close on September 11, 2020.
  • There will be a final adjustment made to the number of points required for riders to qualify for the Maclay and Hamel Finals based on state closures due to COVID. This adjustment will be made and announced on September 1, 2020.

 

Taylor Harris Insurance Services Adult Eq Championship

  • Riders reaching the required 5 points qualify for the THIS Adult Equitation Championship.
  • Riders wishing to enter the THIS Adult Equitation Finals and the NHS Equitation Weekend will follow the normal entry process for the horse show once they are qualified. There is no invitation process. Entries for the THIS NHS Adult Equitation Championship close September 11, 2020.

 

ALL THREE CLASSES

  • Riders and Trainers must be members of the NHSAA in order to compete in any Maclay, Hamel or THIS Adult Medal classes.
  • The membership year for the NHSAA is September 1 to August 31 of any year.
  • We encourage people to renew their memberships prior to the start of the 2021 Qualifying period.
