Adjusted Regional Declaration Process for The National Horse Show 2020 ASPCA Maclay Regional Championships

Lexington, KY – June 18, 2020 –  The National Horse Show announces changes to the Regional Declaration process for the 2020 ASPCA Maclay Regional Championships due to the COVID-19 pandemic. These changes are in keeping with the philosophy behind lowering the points and making the path to the Maclay Finals as obtainable as possible for all riders. To that end, if a rider chooses to change regions, the requirement to obtain other than a rider’s point requirement from their official state of residence with the USEF has been removed.

For the 2020 qualifying period, riders will be permitted to compete in the Regional competition of their choice, provided they are qualified for either the Finals or Regional Championships based on the rider points needed for their official state of residence with the USEF. Riders planning to compete in a Regional competition other than that of their home state must fill out a Regional Declaration form. The Regional Declaration Form may be downloaded from NHS.org to declare in which Region they will compete and must be turned into the NHS office by August 15.

Riders are advised to periodically check their points at NHS.org for any adjustments that may have been made to the qualifying criteria for the 2020 qualifying period based on the COVID-19 pandemic.

The National Horse Show also releases the following updates regarding four of the eight Regional Championships:
